ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for providing critical support to the project staff, ensuring that heavy civil and transportation projects progress on schedule and within the prescribed budget.

Our client takes immense pride in their work and the people who make it happen. They are currently seeking a motivated, hardworking, and energetic Project Engineer to join their team in the Tucson area.


REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Education: Bachelor of Science Degree preferred; AND/OR a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a related field (or an equivalent combination of experience and training).
  • Technical Skills: General computer proficiency, specifically with Excel, Word, and Suretrak (Primavera). Ability to visualize three dimensions out of a two-dimensional plan drawing.
  • Industry Knowledge: Sound technical background in construction technology, equipment, and governmental requirements. Water/Wastewater experience is a PLUS.
  • Work Ethic: Ability to work long hours, including weekend and out-of-town work as needed, with a willingness to assume a high level of responsibility.
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication and people skills, meticulous attention to detail, strategic vision, and the ability to adjust quickly to shifting priorities while managing multiple projects under pressure.
  • Requirements: Must possess a valid Driver’s License.


RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
  • Project Scheduling: Maintain, update, and develop detailed project construction schedules (using Primavera) in cooperation with the Project Manager and Superintendent.
  • Job Costs & Tracking: Review and evaluate weekly job costs and quantities. Develop and monitor manual tracking systems for yields, and prepare Daily Cost/Production and cash flow reports.
  • Project Documentation & Submittals: Review project plans, specifications, and estimates. Secure and review submittal documents, maintain tracking logs, and prepare project setup notebooks.
  • Execution & Administration: Process change orders, force accounts, and back charges. Assist with project closeouts, quantity take-offs, as-builts, and job cost histories.
  • Compliance & Meetings: Prepare permit applications, attend pre-planning and agency meetings, and ensure strict adherence to all safety policies and governmental requirements.
  • Field Support: Review time cards for accuracy, equipment utilization, and field receipts for proper coding. Visit project sites on a regular basis.
